Peter Burns

Sound Designer - Composer - Mixer

Production: Urinetown

PC: Western Michigan University

About

Peter is a sound designer, composer, and mixer who has worked in theatre, film, and concerts. His projects vary from musicals, plays, short films, radio dramas, children's shows, and small concerts. He was the first person to do a live mix of a mainstage production inside the Alice Busch Opera Theater at the Glimmerglass Festival when he was the mixer for The Sound of Music. The following year, he had the opportunity to mix the Cantico concert at the festival that featured the musical talents of Natalie Merchant and Anthony Ross Costanzo.

In both his compositional and design work, Peter loves to create atmospheres that the listener can visualize. Peter utilizes extended techniques to create a variety of textures through different instrumentations and is interested in different ways to have instruments create sound effects, both processed and unprocessed.

Peter has an MFA in Sound Design from Carnegie Mellon University and is a proud member of TSDCA.
